Clearly, I’m not a great blogger

Wow. So 2014 had ZERO posts. And I never finished the series on the trip to Great Britain. Lamesauce. I’ll endeavor to do better in 2015.

A quick recap on this year:
Clay left his job at CRI of 8 years and through a series of (un)fortunate events, will begin working at a firm he has admired for many years on January 5.

I am in the middle of my third year teaching 4th grade, and wrapping up my stint in the double role of teacher & faculty coordinator.

My brother and sister-in-law moved back to Texas, started building a house, and began growing a human. I’ll be an aunt in May!!

Clay’s parents sold their home in Houston and are planning to split time between Houston and College Station.

My parents are still living around the corner (currently with previously mentioned brother, sister-in-law and Baby Bean Clow) and enjoying their jobs with the church and teaching across the state.

July 15: Bath to Stonehenge

This morning began at a slow pace of packing, eating and saying goodbye. By 10:30 though we were on our way to STONEHENGE! We had been warned that this site is no longer worth the trip since access has been restricted. Amy and I heartily disagree! Continue reading

July 14: Bath

BATH! Hello Miss Austen, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey!

Bath is my favorite town so far. We enjoyed seeing the Circus and Royal Crescent before spending significant time in the Roman Bath and Pump Room. The 2000 year old ruins were only recently re-discovered a couple hundred years ago. the late 19th century saw them reopened to the public. Continue reading

Before I get in to today’s journal, I wanted to give some perspective of how far we’ve come.

From our beginning point of Inverness we have now driven approximately 375 miles (this is not taking wrong turns and detours into consideration).

July 12: Scotland to England

{Aberfeldy} 3:45am and I was wide awake. The sun was already lightening the sky and the animals were on the move. I started my day in Matthew 7, and quickly moved into the middle back seat of a small, European car by 4:45. “Tight squeeze” is an understatement. Firmly situated between Randy & Ginger, luggage resting on my lap, we winded along small, foggy roads until we hit the A9, which Jared repeatedly reminded us was the deadliest highway in Scotland, bound for Edinburgh. Great Britain 2013: Travelogue Introduction

Image

In February 2012, my BFF since second grade, Amy, asked me to join her on a celebratory trip to Europe. After months of consideration, Clay and I made a budget and I accepted her invitation. Over the next year and a half, Clay dutifully stashed money in an account earmarked for my trip, while Amy and I made plans for tours, lodging and attractions. Continue reading
