July 14: Bath

BATH! Hello Miss Austen, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey!

Bath is my favorite town so far. We enjoyed seeing the Circus and Royal Crescent before spending significant time in the Roman Bath and Pump Room. The 2000 year old ruins were only recently re-discovered a couple hundred years ago. the late 19th century saw them reopened to the public. Continue reading

Before I get in to today’s journal, I wanted to give some perspective of how far we’ve come.

From our beginning point of Inverness we have now driven approximately 375 miles (this is not taking wrong turns and detours into consideration).

July 12: Scotland to England

{Aberfeldy} 3:45am and I was wide awake. The sun was already lightening the sky and the animals were on the move. I started my day in Matthew 7, and quickly moved into the middle back seat of a small, European car by 4:45. “Tight squeeze” is an understatement. Firmly situated between Randy & Ginger, luggage resting on my lap, we winded along small, foggy roads until we hit the A9, which Jared repeatedly reminded us was the deadliest highway in Scotland, bound for Edinburgh. In February 2012, my BFF since second grade, Amy, asked me to join her on a celebratory trip to Europe. After months of consideration, Clay and I made a budget and I accepted her invitation. Over the next year and a half, Clay dutifully stashed money in an account earmarked for my trip, while Amy and I made plans for tours, lodging and attractions. Continue reading
